Here's the real trouble with splinters; you don't usually see them like this. Usually, there lies a layer of obfuscation between you and that which you are- in the transience of Brain Ghost Dirk's form held in a different timeline, the surrealist abstraction of speaking to your own consciousness via a pair of talking shades- but you have never seen another splinter of yourself have physical weight.

That is what the splinter exudes. Weight. He's got a center of gravity and a characteristic set to his too-broad shoulders under that asshole popped-collar polo that expresses 'size'. Your alternate self is a big motherfucker and it only becomes more apparent as he lets go of the scruff of Vriska's neck, lets her blade uselessly stab into his Achilles tendon as she falls, wounded, to the concrete.

But the wound doesn't stop Bro. Bro Strider is dead. There is no stopping him.

Terezi's still as a grave on your left and out the corner of your eye you see how the colors alternate on the scrap of fabric around her wrist. It's a scrap of Lord English's coat- you can only imagine what plans this guy's got to enact once he makes a swipe for it. Which is to say, you know exactly what kind of plans, because this man is you decades and lifetimes into some farflung Sunny in Philly reality where his, which is to say, your, bullshit can be played for eccentricity with the laugh track.

But you're not looking at the Cairo scrap and neither is he. The other you has his face trained on yours, and as he approaches- languid, slow, and you think that a human being is above all a persistence hunter- you slowly begin to lean your head back to maintain eye contact.

Bro looms over yourself. You've trained your voice to sound a thousand different ways in the solitude of your tower and yet when he speaks, it's in a low rumble that makes you think, that's not me. You know this is you but still some animal part of your brain rattles that's not me as Bro says, "Been wantin' to ask you something, kid."

Out the corner of your eye Terezi's hand tightens on her blade. In the vague distance, somewhere over the event horizon that is your alternate self's adult bulk, Vriska is dragging herself up and out of the cerulean stained muck.

Your palm has been over your blade since you saw him in the distance, just a shadow under the water far below. Your fingers should tighten around the hilt but you can't move your hands.

Your name is DIRK STRIDER and you see your reflection in your alternate self's shades.

I don’t have notifications on for tumblr usually so when I got on and it said to me “you have 99+ notes!” I was so startled and confused HEIGEKEGEKB

Anyway here’s my old notes for fixing Homestuck^2

A lot of the ideas were made by my sibling, @offkilterkeys, and I was like their one single fan who they would bounce these ideas off of

I remember we had a lot of jokes planned for this, and stuff that I didn’t write in the notes

Like the Candy Timeline was very much inspired by Mabel’s bubble in Gravity Falls but it was Jake and he made it via Hope powers

Though the thing was, Jake himself didn’t know that he was doing it, he just was

And when June first realized something was wrong, he actually tried helping them, but by the end of the experience he realized what was happening, panicked, and hoped that they would forget (which ofc they did cause hope magic be crazy)

And he would keep it to himself and feel really guilty and avoid it, and the people closest to him would be most affected by the hope stuff, but June had been depressed for months so when they came out of their house everything was super bright and happy and idealistic and they just at first thought it just appeared like this cause they were depressed while everyone else wasn’t

And when Terezi came back with Vriska they were like “woah is it just me or is everything… brighter? And like, filled with whimsy?”

And then for the Meat timeline, Rose would continue the narrative because of how her potential/story got caught off before in the main story, and like she’s the Light Player, their whole thing is the narrative, why wouldn’t she be the one to wanna continue the narrative?

Basically meat timeline is Rose going through a mid-life crisis (which I now find to be one of my favorite things to give her)

Her writing the narrative was represented by her writing in this purple notebook

Dirk doesn’t get to talk cause he was annoying and didn’t want to be there, so Rose took away his talking privileges, also cause he was on of the people relatively unaffected by her narrative changes. Like Jake, John, and Terezi? She could just write them into forgetting, not caring, or even agreeing with her. But Dirk? No she couldn’t control Dirk, he was too self-aware also cause idk heart player stuff, so she just makes him unable to talk. He retaliates by being a general nuisance in action (think him flipping tables or building stuff or like friendly fighting Jake when they’re supposed to be fighting something else (Jake fights back while laughing cause he thinks it’s funny))

We also had stuff with Aradia, Sollux, and Tavros (also stuff with how the sprites became people just with extra features after the game, hence why Tavros has cat ears)

Cause Aradia is kinda outside the timeline/can see all the timelines, she sees both timelines and thinks they’re kinda funny and y’know she visits them with Sollux and Tavros

Sollux is moirails with Meat! Terezi but Candy! Terezi is moirails with Vriska

There is only one Vriska cause she was stuck in the medium, which was outside these timelines and Candy!TZ found her first

There’s a lot more stuff but this is getting long so I’ll end here :]

The intent behind these was to fix Homestuck^2 in a rewrite I was making with my sibling
